There still a thin chance of seeing Canon 5D Mark 3 this year if the Canon 1Ds Mark 4 makes its anticipated launch.
According to the latest discussions on Google plus last August, a dealer’s commented saying there’s no Canon 5D Mark 3 coming this year “…why replace something that still sells really well, is still the best value on the market and with no real competition.” As this statement matches what Keith Cooper heard in the UK.
As previously heard supporting the speculation, there was another comment supporting the claims that the Canon 5D Mark 3 development was critically held back by the catastrophic events in Canon’s Japan production hub earlier this year. Furthermore, the company’s efforts were more concentrated on the Canon 1Ds Mark 3 replacement further suggesting any Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 is unlikely to ship before the end of 2012 at the very earliest.
But people should see the details and preparations made for the 5D Mark 2 launch if camera enthusiasts are too eager to see a 5D Mark 3. For sure, there will be a lot of gimmickry in Canon’s attempt at building interest, starting a couple of weeks before any announcements.
As stated prior to this birth of the Canon 5D Mark 3 heavily relies on Canon 1D Mark 4’s escalation. So luckily, if speculations of 1D Mark 4 positive developments it will be coming out any time soon, this will accelerate 5D Mark 3 advancement sooner rather than later as Canon’s replacement for the EOS 5D Mark 2. It is now only a matter of time before a newer version of the company’s technology will be in the spotlight if these rumors are true.
